Dear Knysna Tourism Members,

As we get ready for the holiday season, we are faced with an extreme water shortage. As an establishment owner / manager you interact with tourists and it is important that you emphasize using water wisely.

Knysna Tourism is partnering with Knysna Municipality on an awareness and certification project called “Knysna is Water Wise”. The “Knysna Water Wise” certification system was created to raise awareness of the need to save water. We have “Knysna is Water Wise” folders for each B&B or hotel – so come in to Knysna Tourism and ask for yours!

The “Knysna Water Wise” folder contains the following:

  • A Water Audit for you to complete in your establishment
  • An attractive A3 poster announcing to people that “Knysna is A Water Stressed Area” and to please use water wisely.
  • Water-wise tips that should be used in high water-use areas (e.g. next to tap, bath, etc.)
  • A Hippo Bag to be installed in each of the toilets
  • Pick up Hippo Bags from Knysna Tourism starting Friday, November 13th that you can use in your toilets (quantities are limited)
  • Water wise flyer with a number of tips that you can practise on a daily basis in your establishment.
  • Your “We Are Water Wise” sticker to display after you have completed the above steps to make your establishment “water wise”
